Conservatory Division Classes 2010-2011

The Conservatory Division includes classes for students who are interested, willing and able to participate in a significantly more rigorous schedule. Most classes require prior dance training and/or require additional dance classes for support in technique and strength building. Almost all students in Conservatory classes are placed in a specific class by the Director. Students in this division classes make a committment to attend classes consistently, exhibit self-motivated behavior and dedication to their course of study.
Students in the Ballet Conservatory Division
(Ballet 3, Ballet 4, Ballet 5 and Ballet 6) will perform in our 150 seat studio theatre at least three times during the year in school showcase performances as well as have the opportunity to audition for our Holiday Spectacular. They are required to maintain excellent attendance to class and rehearsals, dress code, attitude and class behavior. They, as well as all conservatory level students, will be expected to sign a contract of committment (co-signed by their parents/ or guardians) that clearly outlines the serious expectations we have of these students and their understanding of the consequences of not meeting these expectations.
Students in
Musical Theatre Conservatory Division,  Repertory classes are required to have approval by the director (Mr. Barriskill) for entrance into the program. To enroll in MTR 1,2 or 3 (depending on age) students are required to enroll in a voice and acting class as well. A private voice or acting class may act as a substitute however. Note: the MTR class is not a dance technique class and it is therefore required that all students in MTR 1,2 or 3 take at least one other dance class (ballet preferred but not required) at BDTS. MTR students will also participate in the three showcase events held in the studio theatre and the Holiday Sepctacular. Their committment level is expected to be the same as the Ballet Conservatory students in terms of attendance, attitude, behavior and adherence to the dress code. A signed and parent co-signed contract of comittment is expected as well before the first class.
A student may participate in one or more conservatory programs.
