Welcome to the Barriskill Buzz!

Barriskill Dance Theatre School (BDTS) is proud to be a leader of dance in the Triangle area. We have served the community since 2006, offering dance education and performance opportunities annually. We've been voted "Best in Durham" via Durham Magazine for the last 5 years!

Throughout the year, you can turn to these pages for answers to FAQs, teacher and student spotlights, local dance and theater performances (including our Musical Theater and dance productions) and more!

BDTS is committed to providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate dance and theatre education. We provide a safe and child-centered environment in which our students can explore dance with qualified, nurturing teachers. We center the dancer, not the dance.

Dance education encompasses so much more than the dance technique we teach your children. We believe the discipline of dance training gives young people a better understanding of commitment, the spirit of teamwork, and discovering what they can accomplish through hard work. Our goal is to educate the minds, bodies, and souls of our students, teaching them the skills needed for a a successful life, whether or not they stay involved in dance.

We truly believe that by participating in challenging, developmentally appropriate dance classes in a nurturing environment, all children and adults can experience the sense of accomplishment and fun that comes with learning to dance.

We offer classes in Contemporary/Modern, tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and yoga. Check out our 2022-2023 offerings here.
