Newsies Ensemble provides a wonderful opportunity for dancers of many genres and ages to showcase their talents and perform in a professional theater for a larger audience! Similar to the format of Frozen performed last year, dancers enrolled at Barriskill in MTR 1- MTR 6 will perform in Newsies with tap, jazz and Hip Hop ensembles. We are excited to bring this production to Duke’s Theater with us on December 13th and 14th, 2025, as the opening show for The Little Mermaid the Musical! Students who plan to audition for the ensemble should fill out the audition form prior to September 12.

• Newsies the Musical Ensemble Auditions: September 12th 

  • Barriskill dancers enrolled in Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop levels 1 and higher are encouraged to audition!

  • Auditions on September 12 in Studio 7: 

    • 5:45-6:10pm Tap Audition (Dancers in Tap 1+ welcome) 

    • 6:15-6:40pm  Jazz/Contemporary Audition (Dancers in Jazz and/or Contemporary 1+ welcome) 

    • 6:45-7:10pm  Hip Hop Audition (Dancers in Hip Hop 1+ welcome) 

  • Musical Theater Students in levels 1-6 will be in this performance but do not need to audition this day unless they wish to also be in ensemble. 

  • Mandatory Rehearsals/Show Dates: 

    • Friday, November 7 at Barriskill​​​

    • Sunday, December 7 at Barriskill

    • December 8-12 Tech Week at Duke Reynold's Theatre

    • Saturday, December 13 - Show Day (Two Shows!)

    • Sunday, December 14 - Show Day
