Jazz
Our jazz classes offer students various approaches and styles of jazz dance! We are fortunate to have a jazz faculty with a wide range of experiences, ranging from classical Fosse-style jazz to contemporary commercial style jazz. Students are sure to learn efficient technique, performance skills and have a lot of fun! All students are invited to participate in spring recitals.

STUDIO DIVISION
Jazz 1 (7-10 year olds) is for beginners with no experience.
Jazz 2 & 3 (8-12 year olds) are for students with one year of recent experience in jazz and build upon the foundations of technique and combinations learned in level 1. Many students will spend more than one year in a level to gain confidence and clarity with their fundamentals.
CONSERVATORY DIVISION
Jazz 4, 5, & 6 - Conservatory Levels require 2 years of recent experience in the same style and an instructor recommendation. Students will learn progressively more challenging material and advanced techniques.
Students new to BDTS may be placed by age or arrange a placement audition.
TWEEN/TEEN DIVISION
Teen/Tween Jazz - Teen classes are for beginning students age 10 and older who may want to explore a new style of dance, or have no dance experience at all! Teen classes are designed so that students can learn with their peers without the difficulties of sharing a class with much younger students. Teen Division students often audition to be placed into a Conservatory level after mastering their fundamentals.
